Holidays Why do we celebrate these holidays: Easter, Good Friday, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas? These are traditional holidays celebrated by nearly everyone in the modern world. What if we found out that these holidays are evil in nature and pagan in origin? We are creatures of habit, we can find ourselves following traditions that are contrary to Yah's instructions. Lets see what the Most High has to say about this.
Deut 12:30-32(v30)Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou inquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise.(v31)Thou shalt not do so unto the LORD thy God: for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.(v32)What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it. Yahuah has given us His Appointed Holy Days to observe and has warned us about adding to it or taking away from it. We are not to follow the traditions of men. We are suppose to be following the ways of the Most High Yahuah. As believers why do we blindly celebrate these holidays without the proper research. Why do we allow this ministers, pastors, and so forth to trick us into believing that it is alright to celebrate these holidays when Yah tells us other wise. KJV)Jeremiah 10:2-Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen...... Lets take a look at the true origins of some of our favorite all time American/Christian holidays. You'll be surprise at what you'll learn about these holidays and their pagan origins. |
Christmas
Christmas is such a joyous time of the year where we are supposedly honoring the birth of the Messiah. As much as we celebrate the beloved holiday, have we ever wondered where Christmas originated from. Where did the traditions of this fairly new holiday come from? (Santa Clause, the mistle toe, the yule log, etc., etc.) Most will be surprised that Christmas is pagan in origin along with the December 25 birth date. Neither the Creator nor the Son ordained this day as a special celebration in honor of the Messiah. The big question is......Where did the most celebrated holiday come from?
WINTER SOLSTICE CELEBRATIONS
The winter solstice is a celebration of the day of the year with the shortest period of daylight. The time of winter solstice has always been an important season in the mythology of all peoples. The sun giver of life is at its lowest ebb. It is the time when the forces of chaos that stand against the return of light and life must once again be defeated by the gods. It is the shortest daylight of the year, the promise of spring is buried in cold and snow. At the low point of the winter solstice, the people must help the gods through imitative magic and religious ceremonies. The sun begins to return in triumph. The days lengthen and, though winter remains, spring is once again conceivable. The winter solstice was a time of great festivity. People would sing, dance, exchange gifts, and do other unscrupulous things during the days of celebration. Many people followed the traditions of the winter solstice in ancient times. In different areas of the world the winter solstice has different names however who they are celebrating varies.
Bacchanila-2nd Century BC Greeks honored their god Dionysus { also called Bacchus} the god of wine. The festival began on December 21st by the ancient Greeks.During this time people would sing songs, dance, and partake in some very unruly and indecent activities. This festival really turned into a big orgie once the night hit. Men were raping woman, and children, they expressed inordinate effections towards one another, they also murdered and killed during this celebration. In 186 B.C. the Roman Senate tried to suppress the observance of this holiday.
Saturnalia- Romans celebrated this festival in honor of the god of time, Saturn. It was celebrated on the 17th of December and continued for seven days. The festival attendants would gamble, drink, feast, and decorated their homes with greenery and lights. They exchanged gifts called strenae which was in honor of the vegetation goddess Strenia. Men dressed as women or in animal hides, and they would prance around in the streets. The Roman soldiers were barbaric they would practice human sacrifices in honor of their king. It would start off good then the celebration would end in riots and major pandemonium.
These two ancient celebrations were honored around the winter solstice which began December 17th-24th and them alone are the basis for the foundation of the tradition we call Christmas.
Wikipedia-Saturnalia- (from the god Saturn) was the name the Romans gave to their holiday marking the Winter Solstice. Over the years, it expanded to a whole week, the 17th through 23rd of December. It also degenerated from mostly tomfoolery, marked chiefly by having masters and servants switch places, to sometimes debauchery, so that the (lower case) word "saturnalia" came to mean "orgy."
The customary greeting for the occasion is, "Io, Saturnalia!" -- io (pronounced "oy") being a Latin interjection related to "ho" (as in "Ho, there").
It has been postulated that Christians in the fourth century assigned December 25th as Christ's birthday (and thus Christmas) because pagans already observed this day as a holiday. This would sidestep the problem of eliminating an already popular holiday while Christianizing the population.
Natalis Solis Invicti- also known as Brumalia- is the Roman festival that starts on December 25. Bruma is said to be contracted form the Latin word Brevum or Brevis, meaning brief or short, denoting the shortest day of the year. The Romans practiced human sacrifice during the celebration. "December 25 is referred to in documents as Christmas Day in A.D. 324 for the first time. Under the Roman emperor Justinian [A.D. 527-565] it was recognized as an official holiday. An old Roman festival played a major part in the choice of this particular day. December 25 in ancient Rome was the 'Dies Natali Invictus,' 'the birthday of the unconquered,' the day of the winter solstice and at the same time, in Rome, the last day of the Saturnalia, which had long since degenerated into a week of unbridled carnival..." (Werner Keller, The Bible as History p. 331).
The Teutonic feast of Yule- This festival signified the cycle of the year. The Yule-feast of the Norsemen was celebrated from December 25th to January 6th. The festival was based on the alleged mythological warfare between the forces of nature, specifically winter, which signified death vs. the sun god, representing life. The celebration lasted 12 days, that’s why it is known as the Twelve Nights. Log fires were kindled to help assist the revival of the sun. The people decorated shrines and other sacred places with greenery, such as holly, ivy, and bay, and the people feasted and drank heavily for the duration of the festival.

Celebrating December 25th as the Birth of Christ?
Was our savior Yahushua born on December 25 according to scripture? The answer to that question is no. According to scripture our Messiah was not even born in the winter months.
Luke 2:8 states, "And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.
Meteorologists recorded temperatures of Israel in the winter months. December was 2.8 degrees; January was 1.6 degrees; and February was 0.1 degrees. It also rains heavily in the months of December with 6 inches of rain and January with 8 inches. These conditions has been constant for these past 2000 years. During Christmas time Bethlehem is frosty and their are no animals or shepherds in the field. It is too cold at night for shepherds and livestock to remain outside. According to the Talmud cattle was placed in the fields in March to eat and was brought back in, in November. This shows that the Messiah was not born on December 25 and it shows that he was not even born in the winter season. Would not a temperature of 2.8 degrees be too cold to deliver a baby in a manger in Bethlehem 2000 years ago?
If Yahshua was not born on December 25th; when was He born? We can't pinpoint His exact birth date but we can calculate the time of year He was born. According to Luke Zacharias (John the Baptist father) was a priest serving at the Jerusalem temple of the course of Abia. 1 Chronicles 24:1-19 describes the 23 courses of temple duty. The course of Abia served in the eighth week of rotation. He served one week but stayed another week because all priest serve during the week of Pentecost (Nissan/April-May). After Zacharias completed his ministerial duties; he went home and Elizabeth conceived a child in the month of Sivan/June which places John's conception in mid June. Adding nine months puts John's birth in the middle of March right before Passover. So if Yahushua was conceived six months after John was conceived(Remember Mary and Elizabeth was with child at the same time), it places Yahushua's conception sometime in December. Nine months later places Yahushua's birth in the month of September. People this is no secret. It is right there in scripture. Check it out and research it for yourself.
So if the Messiah was not born on December 25th, who was?
Mithra-Iranian/Persian mystery god known as the "Sun of Righteousness". He was suppose to be born out of a rock on December 25th
Deus Sol Invictus- Roman sun god known as the"Unconquerable Sun"
"Yet there was also another pagan belief during this same epoch, that much more nearly competed with Christ for the control of the Western world. This was the cult of the Sun, which was revered by millions of the inhabitants of the Roman Empire, and its religion for a time even became the state worship....
"In Rome, the divinity of the Sun came very early on; and then, centuries afterwards, in the superb dome of Hadrian's Pantheon, the central opening, surrounded by star-like rosettes, represented the solar orb....Before long, the emperor Aurelian established a massive temple of the Unconquerable Sun as the central and focal point of the entire religious system of the state (274). The birthday of the god was to be on December 25, and this, transformed into Christmas day, was one of the Heritages that Christianity owed to this cult." (Michael Grant, History of Rome p. 391- 392)
Why December 25th?
This is an easy question. The answer to that is to accommodate the pagan population. It was to bring pagans into Christianity allowing them keep honoring the pagan festivities with the covering of Christ.
Exert from "The Two Babylons:
"Indeed, it is admitted by the most learned and candid writers of all parties that the day of our Lord's birth cannot be determined, and that within the Christian Church no such festival as Christmas was ever heard of till the third century, and that not till the fourth century was far advanced did it gain much observance. How, then, did the Romish Church fix on December the 25th as Christmas-day? Why, thus: Long before the fourth century, and long before the Christian era itself, a festival was celebrated among the heathen, at that precise time of the year, in honour of the birth of the son of the Babylonian queen of heaven; and it may fairly be presumed that, in order to conciliate the heathen, and to swell the number of the nominal adherents of Christianity, the same festival was adopted by the Roman Church, giving it only the name of Christ. This tendency on the part of Christians to meet paganism half-way was very early developed....Upright men strove to stem the tide, but in spite of all their efforts, the apostasy went on, till the Church, with the exception of a small remnant, was submerged under Pagan superstition" (Alexander Hislop The Two Babylons p. 93)
In the 4th century CE, Christianity adopted the Saturnalia festival in hope of to taking the pagan masses in with it. Christian leaders succeeded in converting to Christianity large numbers of pagans by promising them that they could continue to celebrate the Saturnalia as Christians. The problem was that there was nothing intrinsically Christian about Saturnalia. To remedy this, these Christian leaders named Saturnalia’s concluding day, December 25th, to be Jesus’(Yahushua) birthday. Christians had little success, however, refining the practices of Saturnalia. As Stephen Nissenbaum, professor history at the University of Massachussetts, Amherst, writes, “In return for ensuring massive observance of the anniversary of the Savior’s birth by assigning it to this resonant date, the Church for its part tacitly agreed to allow the holiday to be celebrated more or less the way it had always been.” The earliest Christmas holidays were celebrated by drinking, sexual indulgence, singing naked in the streets (a precursor of modern caroling), etc. (Origin of Christmas)

Ole Saint Nick Aka Santa Clause
If Christmas time is about honoring the birth of the Messiah, why then do we as adults lie to our children about Santa Claus. We have our children focusing on Santa instead of the Savior. Do we even know the background on this mythical being we call Santa? What would you think If I was to tell you that Santa Claus is evil in all senses. What if I told you that Santa has a very checkered and demonic past? Well whether you believe me or not his true history is recorded for all of us to find out. Santa Claus is the American corruption of the Dutch form "San Nicolaas". This name stems from St. Nicholas, a bishop of the city of Myra in southern Asia Minor. "Santa" in Asia Minor was a familiar name for Nimrod, according to Langer's Encyclopedia of World History. This same Santa was known as the fire god that came down the chimneys of the ancient pagans and he was the fire god that the people of old would submit infant human sacrifices to, which were burned alive and eaten. In 1809 Washington Irving was responsible for remaking the original old, stern bishop into the new Jolly St. Nick. Santa Claus comes form "Saint Nicholas". " Old Nick" has been recognized as a term for the devil. Some sources trace him to the ancient Northern European gods Woden and Thor. He can be traced as far back in time to the Roman god Saturn in which they honored him during the winter Saturnalia festival and the Greek god Silenus. If you have believed that following Christmas is an innocent Christian custom, let this truth sink in! Santa Claus is nothing but a figure recycled from ancient beliefs tied in with pagan midwinter festivals.

Good Friday
According to man Yahushua died on Friday afternoon about 3 p.m and rose three days later on Sunday morning. If anybody has told you this-they are either lying or do not know any better. Friday afternoon to Sunday morning does not add up to three days and three nights. The sign that Yahushua gave us was the sign of Jonah.
(KJV Matt. 12:38-40) (V38) Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. (V39) But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: (V40) For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Yahushua ate Passover dinner with his disciples, betrayed by Judas, jailed, beat, and crucified all on the same day which is Passover(remember Yah's days are from sunset to sunset). The Passover is celebrated on the 14th of Nisan which was on a Wednesday at sunset. So around 3p.m., Wednesday day; Yahushua gave up the ghost. This is three hours before the day changes. The bible says that Yoseph had to hurry to place Yahushua in His tomb before the Sabbath. This is mostly correct, except it was not the weekly Sabbath. If you know how the Holy days run, you would know that the day after Passover is the Day of Unleavened Bread which is a High Sabbath. This would had to be on Thursday(Wednesday evening-Thursday evening). So no work is to be done. Now in order for Mary to prepare the spices and ointments for Yahushua's burial she had to wait until Friday. Friday(Thursday evening to Friday evening) was the only day she could do this because Thursday(Wednesday evening-Thursday evening) was a High Sabbath and Saturday(Friday evening to Saturday evening) is the weekly Sabbath. This right here proves that Yahushua did not perish on Friday-He was still in the grave. For those people who have been told that Good Friday is when Yahushua died---You have been lied to. There was two Sabbaths going on that week that makes a Friday crucifixion null and void . It is in scripture. Read about the Holy Days in the book of Deuteronomy. Many churches do not teach that, even though it clearly states it in scripture. Good Friday is a false and made up Christian holiday.
" The Chaldeans offered cakes to Ishtar on the equivalent of the day we know as Good Friday. When the established church wanted to appease the paganistic people in order to "convert" them to Christianity, they moved the dates accordingly. Jesus actually died on the day of Preparation of Passover Week, which that year occurred on Wednesday (John 19:14, 31-42). Thursday was the Sabbath of the Passover. (Origins of Good Friday and Easter)
KJV John 19:14, 31-42
(V14) And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!
(V31) The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. (V32) Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him. (V33) But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs: (V34) But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. (V35) And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe. (V36) For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken. (V37) And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced. (V38) And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus. (V39) And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight. (V40) Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury. (V41) Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulcher, wherein was never man yet laid. (V42) There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews' preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.
(KJV Matt. 12:38-40) (V38) Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.

Halloween
Halloween or Allhallows Eve, is a festival celebrated on the 31st of October and November 1st. Halloween is the name for the eve of Samhain {sow'en}, which is a celebration marking the beginning of winter as well as the first day of the New Year within the ancient Celtic culture of the British Isles. During this time it was believed that a gathering of supernatural forces occurred as during no other time of the year. The eve and the day of Samhain was characterized as a time when the barriers between the human and supernatural worlds were broken. Souls of the dead were said to be able to visit earthly inhabitants and humans could take the opportunity to penetrate the domains of the gods and supernatural creatures.
Halloween is said to be the most favorable time for divination's concerning marriage, luck, health, and death. It was the only day on which the help of the devil was invoked for such purposes. There are many symbols used during Halloween that have multiple meanings throughout the world today. The jack-o-lantern represented a watchman on Halloween night or a man caught between earth and the supernatural world. Bobbing for apples was originally a form of divination {fortune telling} to learn of future marriages, the first person to bite an apple was predicted to marry first in the new year. Parents dress their children as monsters, vampires, devils, witches, and ghosts and encourage them to approach total strangers to ask them for candy and treats. People transform their yards into graveyards and other morbid scene's. Modern celebrations of Halloween or Allhallows Eve may appear on the surface to be quite harmless, but the spiritual implications of dabbling with the spirit world are extremely serious.

Thanksgiving
When you think about Thanksgiving what comes to mind? Indians, Pilgrims, turkey, cranberry sauce, etc., etc, etc. Why do we as Americans celebrate this most official national holiday? What do the Native Americans think about Thanksgiving? Did the pilgrims and Indians celebrate together and if so why was there a genocide of 10-30 million Native Americans by the hands of the colonist and puritans? Why are we not taught about the colonist genocide of the Native Americans in our schools? Is it because Thanksgiving won't look so appealing or is it that we are trying to hide the atrocious crimes that our forefathers committed against the Native American tribes. Why don't they tell us that after the Indians taught the colonist everything they knew about surviving in America, the colonist turned around and massacred millions and millions of Indians-men, women, and children.
This is the version of the Thanksgiving story that was handed down and that is being taught in schools brainwashing our youth:
(“The American Tradition”) After some exploring, the Pilgrims chose the land around Plymouth Harbor for their settlement. Unfortunately, they had arrived in December and were not prepared for the New England winter. However, they were aided by friendly Indians, who gave them food and showed them how to grow corn. When warm weather came, the colonists planted, fished, hunted, and prepared themselves for the next winter. After harvesting their first crop, they and their Indian friends celebrated the first Thanksgiving.
This is the typical story, but what it does not tell you ruins the perceived meaning of the National Holiday. The colonist along with the Puritans almost wiped out the Native American populace. The colonists did not like the Indians. They saw the Native Americans as uncivilized and satanic heathens. These same colonist that left England for freedom and religious rights, are the same ones that used pestilence, disease, fire, and superior weapons to kill and suppress the Natives so that they could steal their land. Below James W. Loewen speaks on Thanksgiving and one of the lethal weapons that helped kill the Native tribes.
James W. Loewen, “Lies My Teacher Told Me,” Many college students are unaware of the horrific plague that devastated and significantly reduced the population of Natives after Columbus’ arrival in the “new world.” Most diseases came from animals that were domesticated by Europeans. Cowpox from cows led to smallpox, which was later “spread through gifts of blankets by infected Europeans.”
John Winthrop the Governor of Massachusetts Bay Colony, said that the plague was “miraculous.” Winthrop's letter to a friend in England in 1634 stated: But for the natives in these parts, God hath so pursued them, as for 300 miles space the greatest part of them are swept away by the small pox which still continues among them. So as God hath thereby cleared our title to this place, those who remain in these parts, being in all not fifty, have put themselves under our protect…
John Winthrop later states:
“A day of Thanksgiving, thanking God that they had killed 700 plus men, women and children.” It was signed into law that, “This day forth shall be a day of celebration and thanksgiving for subduing the Pequots.”
Is this what we are celebrating, the deaths of over 700 men, women, and children? Is that something to be thankful for?
William Bradford Governor of Plymouth talks about another weapon that killed Native Americans:
Those that escaped the fire were slain with the sword; some hewed to pieces, others run through with their rapiers, so that they were quickly dispatched and very few escaped. It was conceived they thus destroyed about 400 at this time. It was a fearful sight to see them thus frying in the fire…horrible was the stink and scent thereof, but the victory seemed a sweet sacrifice, and they gave the prayers thereof to God, who had wrought so wonderfully for them.
Professor James W. Loewen states:
Thanksgiving is full of embarrassing facts. The Pilgrims did not introduce the Native Americans to the tradition; Eastern Indians had observed autumnal harvest celebrations for centuries. Our modern celebrations date back only to 1863; not until the 1890s did the Pilgrims get included in the tradition; no one even called them ‘Pilgrims’ until the 1870s.
Many Native Americans do not celebrate Thanksgiving. What they celebrate is a National Day of Mourning in the remembrance of the Native American's demise in colonial times. Thanksgiving is a day of backstabbing and genocide covered with a layer of patriotism and fabricated truths. It is all woven together with big family dinners and family gatherings. We stand with the Native Americans in recognizing that day as a national day of morning for a people that was brutally murdered and kicked off their own land. We truly feel the Native Americans because they were murdered and thrown off their land and we African-Americans were taken from our land to be enslaved and murdered. Even though it is hardly ever spoken on but both Native Americans and African-Americans have been through genocide by the hands of the European settlers. By the blood of the Native American Indians this land was acquired and by the blood of the African-American slaves this country was built.

The 4th of July
On July 4, 1776 the Declaration of Independence was signed and sent to England. This is the day that the European colonist got their freedom from British rule and would eventually create the United States of America. Should African Americans celebrate this day even though slavery was still highly active in 1776? As a matter of fact the slaves were not freed until 1865 about eighty-nine years later!!! Even though we helped win the Revolutionary war, we were not a part of their independence. Independence was for the European settlers! While the European colonist celebrated their independence the slaves were the same as they were before July, 4 1776---an abused and mistreated slave.
It is kind of strange for the men who signed the Declaration to declared that:
-"All men are created equal and
-That they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights.
-That among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
These same hypocritical men that fought to be free from a tyrannical rule, drafted and signed the Declaration of Independence, and had humans in their own control denying them what they(colonist) fought so desperately for, which is to be equal, to have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Do you think that any of the slaves were excited about the Declaration of Independence with their slave conditions. With the exceptions of the house negro the answer would be no.
At Corinthian Hall in Rochester, New York; fugitive slave Frederick Douglas gave a speech about Independence Day on July 5, 1852. Mr. Douglas named his speech, "What to the slave is the fourth of July?"
"This Fourth of July is yours, not mine. You may rejoice, I must mourn. What to the American slave, is your 4th of July? I answer: a day that reveals to him, more than all other days in the year, the gross injustice and cruelly to which he is the constant victim. To him, your celebration is a sham; your boasted liberty, an unholy license; your national greatness, swelling vanity; your sounds of rejoicing are empty and heartless; your denunciations of tyrants, brass fronted impudence; your shouts of liberty and equality, hollow mockery; your prayers and hymns, your sermons and thanksgivings, with all your religious parade, and solemnity, are, to him, mere bombast, fraud, deception, impiety, and hypocrisy-a thin veil to cover up crimes which would disgrace a nation of savages. There is not a nation on the earth guilty of practices, more shocking and bloody, than are the people of these United States, at this very hour"
We love our country and are proud of where we are from. We are not trying to be unpatriotic. We are stating what is common sense and what is true. It is every human's right to choose whether to celebrate a day or not, but we feel as African-Americans that we should not feel obligated to celebrate the 4th because our independence did not come till 1865, 89 years after the Declaration of Independence. I understand that today we are considered as Americans but what were we considered during those times--American or slave. As African- Americans we should celebrate our own freedom on June 19 which is called Juneteenth

New Years
When Yahuwah created the times of the year, He started the first of the year in the beginning of spring time in the month of Abib/Nissan(Late March/Early April). Most Americans including Christians celebrate New Year's Day in the middle of the winter. So if the Most High gave us the true new year then why is it that we celebrate the new year in the middle of the winter solstice months. Yah never told us to celebrate new year at that time anyway. Like any other holiday on this page, New Year's is a pagan holiday. Specifically a Roman Catholic holiday. Who gave the Roman Empire the authority to change when the year begins? It most definitely was not the Most High. The article snippet below explains how the January New Year came into existence through the Roman Empire.
Ancestry Magazine 11/1/2000 & Calendars by L.E. Doggett, ET. Al.
"When the Romans came to power, they continued to observe the new year in March, in the springtime. However, the Roman calendar frequently changed based on the wishes of various emperors, and it eventually became unsynchronized with the sun. In an effort to restore a static calendar, the Roman senate declared January 1 as the official beginning of the new year in 153 B.C. As the Catholic Church expanded, it was strongly opposed to the celebration of the Roman's New Year, and denounced it as paganism. However, as Christianity became more widespread, the religious observances of the Catholic Church began to coincide with many of the pagan celebrations."
In 46 B. C., Roman Emperor Julius Caesar instituted the New Year's festival on January 1. Because Caesar adopted the Julian calendar he switched the New Year to the first of January to coincide with the Roman Saturnalia along with the licentious customs that came with it. By the middle ages the new year was moved to March 25 by the Celts to correspond with their Germanic spring rites of fertility. In 1582, Pope Gregory XIII re-instituted the Roman New Years date of January 1 due to his acceptance and adoption of the Gregorian calendar. He thrust his calendar on the western world and it is the current calendar system that we adhere to. The traditions and customs of the holiday has basically been the same for about 4,000 years give or take. So lets take a look at how this New Years phenomenon began.
Earl W. Count,"4000 Years of Christmas", (p.20-21)-"Mesopotamia is the very ancient Mother of Civilization. Christmas began there, over four thousand years ago, as the festival which renewed the world for another year. The 'twelve days' of Christmas; the bright fires and probably the Yule log; the giving of presents; the carnivals with their floats, their merry makings and clownings, the mummers who sing and play from house to house; the feastings; the church processions with their lights and song -- all these and more began there centuries before Christ was born. And they celebrated the arrival of a New Year!"

New Years Ancient Pagan Symbols
Cronos/Father TimeIn Greek mythology Cronos was the father of Zeus and the other so-called gods on Mt. Olympus. There was a prophecy that Cronos' son will overthrow him, so he swallowed each child as they was born. Cronos was known as the silent reaper because his weapon was called a scythe in which he used to reap children during his ritualistic human sacrifices that were cannibalistic in nature. Cronos, who was also called Father Time is where we get the name for the chronograph that measures time.

Dionysus/BacchusThe Ancient Greeks honored and celebrated Dionysus/Bacchus during the January-February months. This festival was called the "Festival of the Wine-Press"
Theodor H. Gaster,"New Year"-"Actually the New Year babe is FAR OLDER than he looks. In ancient Greece, it was customary at the great festival of Dionysus to parade a babe cradled in a winnowing basket. This was taken to symbolize the annual (or periodic) rebirth of that god as the spirit of fertility!" |

St. Valentine's Day
Every year on February 14th, lovers come together to celebrate their love on a Christian festival called Valentine's Day. On this day people commemorate their love with gifts such as flowers, chocolate sweets, and greeting cards. This is such an special occasion for people that people prepare for it days, even weeks in advance. So where did this so-called Christian holiday come from. Well, like the other so-called Christian holidays, Valentine's Day has paganism written all over it; even though its name came from a Christian martyr named Saint Valentine. According to the encyclopedia Britannica, this St. Valentine was martyred around 270 A.D. by Roman Emperor Claudius II Gothicus. According to the story, this St. Valentine was put in prison for performing marriage ceremonies for soldiers who were prohibited to marry and for also ministering to Christians who where being persecuted by the Roman Empire. The story goes, while St. Valentine was incarcerated, he healed, befriended, and fell in love with his jailer's daughter and right before his execution in which he was beheaded, he wrote a farewell letter to the jailer's daughter saying "from your Valentine". This is what people think; that Valentine's Day came from this particular event but that is just not true. It actually comes from a pagan Roman festival called Lupercalia, which is a festival of fertility and purification. This is one of the secrets that the Roman Catholic Church held back from the public at large. Not only did the Catholic Church fail to tell people the truth about good ol' Valentines Day; they forgot to mention that, in Ancient times and even today in the occult world; the month of February is revered as a month of love magic and ancient pagan sex rituals.
Love Lottery
Valentine's Day actually falls on the eve of Lupercalia on February 14th. In ancient Rome this day was used to pair couples for the duration of the Lupercalia festival using a lottery type system. This day gave reverence to the Queen of the gods and patroness of marriage---Juno. On this 14th day of February, young girls names were written on pieces of paper and placed in a jar. Boys will then pick the name of a girl that they are going to be partnered with for the festival. It should be no surprise that the Roman Catholic church substituted girls names with names of dead saints trying to hide the lustful and pagan practice.
Lupercalia
Lupercalia is considered one of the most ancient festivals of the ancient pagan Roman festivals. This day was used to honor and to pay homage to "the god of fertility"-Lupercus. This next exert comes from Dr. Leo Ruickbie-"The Ancient Pagan Festival of Luperus, Roman God of Fertility.,,

The festival was held on the 15th of February in the Lupercal, where Romulus and Remus were said to have been nurtured by the she-wolf; the place contained an altar and a grove sacred to the god Lupercus. Here the Luperci assembled on the day of the Lupercalia, and sacrificed goats and dogs—animals remarkable for their strong sexual instinct, and thus most appropriate sacrifices to the god of fertility.-Dr. Leo Ruickbie
So there it is. Lupercalia starts off with animal sacrifices of goats and dogs in the sacred grotto of the she-wolf. After this young men would run around on the streets whipping or flagellating women and crops with a flayed hide of a goat to promote........fertility. This pagan festival was celebrated up until between 491-518 CE which was during the reign of Anastasius I. Now in 498 CE near the end of the 5th century Pope Galesuis changed the eve of Lupercalia to Valentine's Day to honor a dead saint.

Ancient Pagan Gods and Idols of Valentines Day
Cupid/ErosToday cupid is this babyish, child like cherub that shoots people with arrows so that they would fall in love. The truth is that cupid has a dark and checkered past. Cupids name in Ancient Rome was Eros, the god of love. Before his transformation to cupid, Eros was a dark and lustful being. Cupid/Eros was sent by his mother Venus/Aphrodite to kill a princess by the name of Psyche (a mortal with great beauty) because she was jealous of her beauty. To make a long story short, being wounded by his own weapon, Eros fell in love with Psyche. Psyche sisters were jealous and caused Psyche to betray the trust of her lover Eros, because he wore a mask and she did not know how he truly looked. When Psyche saw that Eros was sleeping she tried to see what he looked liked. Eros then woke up and was heart broken because Psyche did not trust him. They split up and when Psyche realized that she messed up, she approached Venus for help. Venus gave her four task to complete which was sorting out a huge pile of seeds, retrieving the golden fleece, filling a flask from the waters that fills the River Styx, and returning from the underworld with the box of beauty ointment Proserpina; in which Psyche did complete with the help of a god. Psyche then became immortal to be with Eros aka Cupid forever.

Juno/HeraJuno was the daughter of Saturn and sister/wife of Jupiter the chief god. She was also the mother of Mars and Vulcan. Juno was chief goddess in which watched over all matters of women including marriage, pregnancy, and child birth. The story goes that Juno was jealous of Jupiter because he gave birth to Minerva from his own head. Juno was given an herb by Flora in which caused her to give birth to Mars. Juno is identified with Hera-the wife of the Greek god Zeus. With Jupiter and Minerva, she was a member of the Capitoline triad of deities traditionally introduced by the Etruscan kings. Even to this day she still has a cult of devout women followers. This is were the month of June gets its name from.

Faunus/PanFaunus is the Roman god of the woodland and protector of herds and crops. He is also known as the Greek god, Pan. He is half man and half goat. He was also known as Lupercus which means" he who wards off the wolf". Faunus was the grandson of Saturn. He also revealed the future in dreams and voices that were communicated to those who came to sleep in his precincts, lying on the fleeces of sacrificed lambs. There were two pagan festivals that honored him in which both were named Faunalia. The first festival was celebrated on February 13th in the temple of Faunus on the island in the Tiber River. The other festival was celebrated on December 5th.

LupaThis she-wolf is recognized as the one who hand suckled the founders of Rome, Romulus and Remus when they were orphaned infants, in a cave at the foot of the Palatine. This she wolf rescued Romulus and Remus after they were thrown into the Tiber River by order of their grandfather Numitor's brother Amulius after Amulius over through Numitor. A herdsman by the name of Faustulus eventually found the twins and raised them.

It is about time we examined these customs of the pagans now falsely labeled Christian. It is time we quit this Roman and Babylonian foolishness - this idolatry - and get back to the faith of Christ delivered once for all time. Let's stop teaching our children these pagan customs in memory of Baal the sun god - the original St. Valentine - and teach them instead what the Bible really says!----Biblestudy.org

The Final Thought!
The reality of the truth is we are celebrating evil, demonic, ritualistic holidays that are truly not edifying to our soul. The Most High never prescribed us to celebrate these days, as a matter of fact he forbade us to honor any days outside of his "Appointed Days" and "annual feasts"
It doesn't matter what Christian guise it is given, it is deeply rooted in pagan practices and pagan worship. Why go broke trying to celebrate a holiday that is made up, that doesn't make good sense? Invest in what is in the Qodesh Scriptures and you can't go wrong.
